Hi, I’m Sandra,
The founder of S M K Dancewear. After graduating from Atelier Chardon Savard in 2008, I relocated to Seoul, where my passion for fashion and dance inspired me to launch my own brand. In 2017, I transformed S M K into a dancewear label dedicated to ethical production, sustainability, and animal rights.
Want to hear the whole story?
After graduating from Atelier Chardon Savard in 2008, I moved to Seoul and worked as a fashion commercial agent for several designer brands. Missing the creative process, I bought a small sewing machine. Not speaking Korean at the time, I followed a seamstress I spotted in the subway to the textile market, where my design journey in Korea began.
I launched a brand that soon evolved into the first version of S M K. My growing interest in fashion production and consumerism led me to commit to ethical practices, environmental impact reduction, and animal rights—values that deeply resonate with me. S M K’s ethos developed over time, finding its true direction.
My personal life also changed; I became a vegetarian (to my husband’s dismay 😅) and began practicing ballet and rhythmic gymnastics. Starting these new activities at 30 was both refreshing and inspiring, especially given my childhood dreams of designing for Y-3 or Adidas.
After a year of training, I rebranded S M K as a dancewear brand in 2017, upholding the same ethical values. The journey has only just begun—who knows what the future holds? Let’s embrace it all together.
Since passion can lead to wonderful path,
I started teaching lifestyle rhythmic gymnastics with a focus on ball and clubs in 2023 at LEAP STUDIO in Hannam-Dong.
My classes are tailored for adults who want to learn rhythmic lifestyle gymnastics and enjoy a fun new hobby.
The mission is
Sandra’s mission is to make dancewear that is ethical, eco-friendly, and animal-friendly. The main goal is also to share her love for dance/gymnastics and fashion, encouraging others to move with joy and may this movement give you energy to create the life you want.
